He "Sharded" himself
I kinda panic when it gets too quiet or when ALL of my children are out of my sight for longer than a minute, even when we are at home. This weekend we had some company over and I got concerned when my children kept going up and down the stairs. My husband looked at me and told me, as he usually does, "you worry too much". I should have insisted or got up and looked because when he returned from checking on them (several minutes later) he had a toy tool box filled with empty soda cans. When I saw them I was kinda confused. Perhaps they got into the recycling? If this was the case they wouldn't be wet...hmmm I did see them get a few drinks from the pantry to restock the fridge...wait....their little fingers have little cuts. OH CRAP!!! I ran upstairs to see the damage. They had all gotten comfy in my daughters closet and were handing off Diet Cokes to one another- 14 to be exact. Once each drink made it to the destination they would open it and pour it on the floor. One after the next and they were not careful to avoid stepping in it or even spilling it down the upstairs hallway, through the gameroom, down the stairs, through the dining room and into the kitchen. My husband was first on the scene and did his best to clean up the coke that had literally pooled in her closet. It was no use, everything was soaked, even the thick pad below. I would also like to point out that this carpet was just over a year and a half old. When my children saw our faces and heard the words that they shouldn't hear they all ran in the opposite direction, each on holding their butts. While we were soaking it up, one of my boys kept grabbing his butt and saying it hurt. I was surprised because, it shouldn't be hurting- yet. After a few times I decided to look at his butt and see what he was talking about. Apparently, when he discovered that this was indeed a "no-no" he must have......"sharded" himself (look it up).
Long story short: several hours later tall the carpet in the house was cleaned and the closet carpet had to be ripped up. It will have to be replaced, but we do have extra, it is a square room and my husband can do it himself.
On the bright side, all my carpet is clean
